and inexperienced, yet curious, newcomers are encouraged to ask questions
and learn if shooting sports are for you!
2. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Be safe, learn
about your firearms and enjoy them while following gun safety rules.
3. Attend classes that teach you gun and hunting safety. These give
you an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. Explore
your world!!
4. Find other friends who might enjoy learning with you. Learning how to
handle firearms is good common sense, even if you choose to never own or use
one.
5. Make decisions based on your lifestyle, rights and opportunities.
Learning how to and using a firearm should never be considered uncool or for
a certain type of person.
General Gun safety tips:
1. Always point your gun in a safe direction
2. Always keep your finger off the trigger, until you are ready to shoot
3. Know your target and what is behind it
4. Learn how to safely use your gun
5. Always use the correct ammunition for your gun, as well as proper ear and
eye protection
6. Never use any type of drugs or alcohol while operating a firearm
7. Store firearms unloaded in a safe or lockbox
8. Store and lock ammunition away from firearms
9. Teach your children about the risk of firearm injury
10. Teach your children that if they see or find a firearm not to touch it
and find an adult immediately
